Original Item. Only One Available. To find any Pickelhaube from the First World War era in passable condition is already exceedingly rare. It requires the helmet having been properly cared for and stored for over 100 years. To find one not only in great condition, but with its original carrying case, is an astounding feat. NCO School helmets on their own are rare, and to find one in this condition for an officer cadre member with the original carrying case even more so.

This is a phenomenal cased Pickelhaube for an Officer of the NCO School, or Unteroffiziervorschule. Excellent condition with only minor crazing to the leather.  All fittings original to the helm and no extra holes in the leather, so this one is just as it came from the manufacturer. The wappen is a beautiful gold example with the badge for the NCO school attached to the front, reading “SUUM CUIQUE”. The silk liner is in phenomenal condition and the sweatband is near perfect minus some white spots as shown. There is a size sticker under the liner (55).

This helmet features a lovely gold-colored alloy frontplate (wappen) with the Prussian state eagle clutching a scepter and crown, over the King's motto, MIT GOTT FÜR KOENIG UND VATERLAND (With God for King and Country, i.e. Prussia). The Preußen issued Wappen in 1895 were intended to be made out of Tombak (an alloy made from a combination of copper and zinc) but it seems that the copper-color was unpopular and they were soon replaced with Aluminiumbronze which has a very bright brass appearance. Attached in the center of this is an 8 pointed star and the seal of the NCO School.

An unbelievably rare Pickelhaube to find in this condition and with its original carrying case. Don’t miss it!
